Meet Jasmin Mahler, Quality Manager Third-Party Compliance

Q: Please describe your role within Acino

I am Quality Manager in the Third-Party Compliance team. My daily work involves supplier qualification for raw materials, services and audits. I also oversee audit management, quality reviews and risk assessments.

Q: How do you ensure that these processes run smoothly?

Good organization, communication and teamwork are essential for the processes to run not only smoothly but also efficiently.

Q: What are the challenges you face in your daily work?

A common challenge for everyone in any industry are the tight deadlines, which negatively impact information gathering from the project stakeholders. Here again, having a good organization and good communication minimizes the stress level while ensuring that the deadlines are met.

Another challenge I am facing comes from the current trend of digitalization. Switching to digital processes and implementing new software in the quality department is time-consuming and complex in the short term, but it will certainly bring great benefits for Acino and our customers on the long term.

Q: How do you handle those challenges?

Consulting with experienced colleagues and maintaining proactive communication boosts my creativity and flexibility. In order to navigate and participate in innovation in my line of work, it is important to exchange ideas with experienced people in the field and optimize the communication channels with them. Also, being open minded, creative and flexible helps!

Q: What do you love the most about your job?

I really love working on exciting new tasks. I also love the warm team spirit and the open atmosphere within the department and Acino in general.

  Q: What makes you proud?

Knowing that we can make a difference for patients makes me extremely proud.

Q: What do you like the most about your contribution to Acino’s B2B activities?

The quality of Acino’s products is one of our unique selling points. As Quality Manager I have to ensure this remains so, and I genuinely enjoy it.

We asked Monika to share some insights into her daily work and the challenges she faces, especially in light of the current Covid-19 crisis.

Learn more about Acino’s bulk production.

Q: Which processes are you responsible for or involved in?

I am responsible for the whole production process from the dispensing of raw materials to the final dosage form, which in our case is the granule, pellet, tablet, film-coated tablet or capsule.

Some of my daily activities include ensuring the on-time production of medicines under the highest quality standards, leading projects and audits, personnel management and operator training.

Q: How do you ensure that these processes run smoothly during a crisis such as Covid-19?

The short answer is by implementing and respecting standard operating procedures and by providing specialized and continuous training to our production colleagues.

Communication and smoothly running processes are more important than ever. With many support functions of production working remotely it is important to make sure information gets to everyone on time and with the correct content.

For me as a leader it is essential that my employees know that I am always reachable if they have any questions of concerns as everyone is also struggling with personal uncertainties.

Our main focus is still to keep production running on a high level to supply our markets and customers with vital medication.

Q: What are the challenges you face in your daily work and how do you handle them?

The biggest challenge we all are facing is that we are living an unprecedented situation with Covid-19. For us this means that we need to continue to supply medicines to patients despite increasingly challenging and changing conditions sourcing raw materials and finding logistic solutions while ensuring the well-being and safety of our colleagues who need to come to work.

Many projects running simultaneously need to be executed on time. In order to do that I aim to always optimize and structure my own work and give the best support to my teams and others.

Q: What do you love the most about your job?

What I love the most is the diversity of tasks and the opportunity to learn new things. Moreover, I also appreciate working with people at different professional levels across the company.

Q: What makes you proud of Acino?

We have an ambitious growth plan and strive to make medicines accessible to patients and healthcare professionals in emerging markets. Playing a key role in this makes me proud.

Q: What do you like the most about Bulk’s contribution Acino’s B2B activities?

I like seeing all the new products running on our production lines. I love to see a lot of movement when walking through the plant.
