Acino expands high quality production in Switzerland
On Friday, January 25, Acino celebrated the opening of an extension at their site in Liesberg, Baselland, in a commitment to high-quality Swiss manufacturing.
The milestone represents a major step in a long-term strategy to create a center of excellence in production for the company in Switzerland serving customers around the world.
The investment and completed work moves Acino’s technology offering further ahead of competition and reinforces Acino’s position as a leader in pharmaceutical contract manufacturing excellence.
Liesberg is the primary home of Acino’s swiss production. The work meets and exceeds quality and manufacturing requirements, as well as allowing for greater efficiencies so Acino can continue to provide affordable quality healthcare to our customers and patients.
Acino has increased the building size by re-building the roof of part of the site, allowing for double-height loaders for our machines and extension of technical infrastructure, utility systems, as well as adding new changing rooms, cleaning rooms, airlocks and a layout that will make production even more efficient.
This is part of a years-long plan to consolidate Acino’s manufacturing and Quality capabilities in the Laufen valley from Acino’s site at Dornacherstrasse, Aesch. The project’s other major milestones have also included the building and opening of a state of the art new laboratory, opened just over a year ago.
Fun facts:
By completion in 2021, more than 75% of the site will have been upgraded.
By 2021, total production site will be 5800m², about the same size as an ice hockey rink.
